Toon has worked in Indirect Taxes since 1989, first as an Inspector in the Netherlands Tax Service (NTS), then at Law firm Loyens & Loeff, before becoming a Partner in 1999 at LENOS c.s, an Indirect Taxes boutique firm.
Although specializing in VAT, his ‘taxes’ degree, his knowledge and experience extends far beyond this, and his teams have included International Trade & Customs (and other) Indirect Taxes specialists too.
For the past 11 years, Toon has also been a driving force and Global Vice-Chair Indirect Taxes within the Geneva Group International (GGI), one of the largest alliances of professional services firms worldwide. Through GGI he has a team of over 200 Indirect Taxes professionals around the world, and additionally his position enables him to serve as a gateway for International businesses seeking VAT or other accounting and tax services in the European Union and other international markets. Furthermore, he also has his own personal network of trusted advisers internationally built over the course of his career.
His approach is not just to advise but also to practically assist clients with their Indirect Taxes needs, whether they are compliance, advisory, planning/structuring, NTS interventions or investigations, litigation, or opportunities. He uses his extensive knowledge and experience to implement proven simple and practical solutions or to develop ‘out of the box’ alternatives where required. He has a no-nonsense approach, with a conclusive solution.
Toon is also a partner at the International VAT Association, The VAT Forum and Harvey Bloom.
